Packing & Wrapping

This week has been a bit manic as I am preparing for our Christmas trip to the Netherlands. Today I put through 6 loads of laundry, washed, dry, fold & put away.
I have just gone through the kids' toy boxes to pick out all baby toys which we will kindly and gladly donate to my niece, Mayre, who is now 9 months old.
It doesn't even make a dent in the amount of toys our kids have. Unfortunately we failed to have a good toy cull before we set off to return with even more toys...

Now all that needs to be done is pack our suitcases and at least wrap the kids Christmas presents. I can wrap the others at my parents' once we're there, but don't want to risk that the kids spot the toys that Santa is supposed to bring them. I did order them an early Christmas present each, but that's not arrived yet. I just hope it arrives tomorrow before we leave.

Tomorrow is going to be a mad busy day. I'll have to get up early. Do some more packing and/or wrapping, get our daughter to Pre-school for her Christmas Party. Then I have to drive across town to pick up a V-dub lamp from Hippi Haus, for our son's bedroom as he has now a wonderful mural of a VW Campervan on his wall, made by Sarah of Charlotte Desings.
After picking up the lamp, I'll have to collect our daughter from Pre-school again, she'll probably won't need lunch, but she'll definitely need an afternoon nap, if not for herself, then for my sanity and freedom to continue packing! LOL

So here goes... More wrapping to do!

One week on...

I'VE DONE IT!!!
Yes, yes, yes, I've passed the 1 Stone weight loss mark!
To date I have lost 16lbs / 7.3kg in 4 weeks.
Way to go, Sure Slim! I am so chuffed I made that first mini goal.
Up to the next stone, which will also break my magic number. I so want to get under that weight that I have not been below for the past 4 1/2 years.

More good news, I've got over half of my Christmas Cards written. Only another 30+ to go...
Not done much craft the past week, made one necklace. Though I have started reading a book, The Highly Sensitive Person, so my time has gone into that and I've been busy with Pre-school stuff. We had a stall at the School Christmas Fayre on Tuesday evening, so had to set up for that in the afternoon. Then of course we had to be at the Fayre that evening.

Friday was our 2-year old daughter's first ever Nativity Play. We had high hopes when she actually wanted to change into her costume, but once all the audience came in she thought it was too much and just wanted to sit on Daddy's lap. I think she'd rather have Mummy's lap, but I had to sell raffle tickets. Unfortunately I could not hand over to anyone else, so Daddy had to do until Mummy was free.
So we had a busy week and another busy week to come.

In the coming week I have to finish all Christmas Cards and post them. All Christmas presents need to be wrapped by Thursday and our suitcase need packing.
On top of that we still have the decorators in for the next week, so the dining room needs to be emptied of most stuff that we moved there from the living room.
I do not know how we're going to pack it all in to just a few days time.

Lost a little bit more...

So another week has passed and I have lost a little again. I was totally amazed as I thought I would have gained if not stayed after a week of feeling poorly, having a very poorly daughter at home all week and not paying 100% attention to the plan.
So well chuffed that I have now lost 6kg in just 3 weeks!

Today we did some Christmas decorating, well, DH did on my request. I'm still convinced we need more lights outside, but will do that tomorrow.
We can't do the inside yet as the painters/decorators are not finished yet.
Maybe next weekend?

I also did some mire crafts this weekend. Not as much as I would've liked to, but at least I got some stitching done. I finally managed to write all DDs birthday 'Thank You' cards and started writing the Christmas Cards.
I have loads of craft ideas and as and when I get a chance I will update on here.
For now I am working on a birth frame in cross stitch.
Other projects on the go or ready to start:
- Write Christmas Cards
- Jewellery making with beads
- Sewing projects, such as a bean bag for DS, bags, toys and doorstops.
- Drawing & Painting
- Baking cakes & biscuits

First and foremost, I have to sort out the laundry tomorrow. I need to fold several baskets full, as well as running new loads and dry them.
Oh, domestic bliss... NOT!

My weight loss journey...

Before getting married on 18 June 2005, I thought I'd like to loose some weight before getting in that dress... so I joined the local Slimming World group and lost an amazing 3st 7lbs in only 10 months. I had a gorgeous purple wedding dress and I managed to get into a size 14...

Only 2 months after our wedding we found out we were expecting our first child and from then the wieght started piling on again. "Just baby weight..." I thought and "It'll all drop off once our son is born." Of course it didn't and going back to Slimming World didn't get me anywhere close to losing the weight. For months it was 7lbs off, 7lbs on, etc. Then there was a house move, which included a temporary move into my sister's house in the Netherlands, so the whole weight loss went out the window...

March 2008 - Yoohoo! We're pregnant again. Strangely enough during pregnancy I actually LOST weight... well, in the end I weighed the same as before pregnancy, so I thought, surely when this darling little girl come out, I will weigh less than I did before pregnancy? Our daughter was born weighing 9lbs 1oz and my weight was not much less than before pregnancy. How does that work?
Anyway, found the new local Slimming World group and joined, but again with the same results, 7lbs off, 7lbs on, for months on end.

In January 2010 my parents had together started a new plan, Dr. Frank. A Dutch diet plan that you join online and you get a daily e-mail with a menu that you can follow. As Mum & Dad had great results and the website promises 1 kilo per week weight loss, I thought to give it a try. It really is an alternative Dr. Atkins. High protein, low carb, but with a little twist as it allows more vegetables and some fruit and the protein/carb relation is less extreme as well. Fairly easy to follow, but not in the UK where the cost of cooked/cold meat is so much higher than the Netherlands, it was too costly and finding equivalents for certain Dutch products made it really hard. After 5 weeks I gave up. I watched what I ate to a certain extend but not as much as I should have. By June there was no point in starting another plan as we were due to go to the USA for an 8-week holiday, so that was it. I weighed 1 stone more after our American adventure - Queen Mary 2 there and back, Luxury Hotels, Disneyland and a 5 week camper road trip from Los Angeles, CA to Washington, DC and being treated to fresh lobster in Portland, Maine.

In September I started having very bad back problems and my GP mentioned that my weight would not help issues. After numerous attempts at Slimming World, Dr. Frank, Atkins, Weightloss Resources, Primal Blueprint and other plans and not succeeding I had really given up all hope and I thought I was destined to stay the weight I was, unless I went and did something drastic.
I didn't feel comfortable with many so I had to look for alternatives. I searched and found... SureSlim Aylesbury.

I started the plan officially on Monday 15 November, so less than a week ago.
The plan is easy to follow, although it does take some getting your head around it, but following the guidelines is easy, weigh, cook (or not) and eat. Three meals per day, each 5 hours apart, drinking at least 2 litres of water per day in addition to tea, coffee, etc. Easy-peasy.
I had my first weigh-in this morning - I've lost an amazing 3.3kg / 7.3lbs!
I'm so pleased... Onwards and downwards from here...
